Life is a Paradox and So Much More!Life is bigger than one way or another. There is actually room for one way and another. Want your world to open up? Try this simple exercise: replace the word "but" with the word "and." It'll be challenging at first only because it isn't what you're used to. When you use the word "but" you negate what was said in front of it. When you use the word "and" you include both possibilities. At first it will be difficult to complete the sentence with "and" instead of "but." It changes the way you structure sentences and the way you think. However, you will notice your world opening up. Relationships will expand and you will give yourself (and others) the permission to live in a much larger place. Life is a paradox and there truly is room enough for all of it. For instance: This exercise is hard and it's worth it. You could use "but" there — and you will be throwing away the fact that this exercise is hard … and it is worth it! When you use the word "but" you put a limit on the possibilities. There is room for whatever is on both sides of the "but." Open yourself up, let others in, expand your horizons and see what happens when you replace your "buts" with "and."
